課程概述

This course seeks to introduce students to the fundamentals and applications in mass spectrometry, from sample preparation, separation technique such as chromatography, common ionization sources, mass analyzers to chemical databases. Students will be able to devise and develop appropriate analytical methods using mass spectrometry for known (quantitative), suspect screening, or untargeted analyses. Students will be able to apply these toolkits to solve the environmental and food safety issues in real-life.
本課程旨在向學生介紹質譜分析技術的理論基礎與應用,從樣本前處理、層析分離技術、常用游離源、質量分析器到化學資料庫等,使學生具備設計、發展合適的質譜分析方法以進行已知物(定量)、疑似物比對或未知物分析,以解決實際生活中會遇到的環境/食品安全議題。
 

課程目標
At the end of the course the students should be able to
1. Recognize and identify the potential hazards existing in the food supply chain and manufacturing processes (MS-B)
2. Equip with the fundamentals and research ability in mass spectrometry (choose, devise, and develop an analytical MS method to answer the real-life questions).
3. Critically evaluate studies using mass spectrometry and understand the underlying limitations

在課程結束時,學生應能
1. 認知與偵測危害在食品供應鏈與製程中可能出現之處,並能進行危害分析與風險控管
2. 具備質譜分析的基本知識與研究能力(如何選擇、設計、並發展合適的質譜分析方法以回答現實生活中的問題)
3. 批判性評估質譜相關文獻並了解其潛在的研究限制
